Mr. Alfred Smith, 77, of Forest Street, Gloversville, New York passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.
He was born February 21, 1932 in the Bronx, New York and was educated there. He came to Fulton County as a teen and resided in Mayfield, Broadalbin and Gloversville.
He was a self-employed Carpenter most of his life. He enjoyed CB radio, his boats and boating on Sacandaga Lake and loved his Cadillac.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was married to the former Jane A. Wszolek on June 25, 1950. She died August 20, 1995. He was also pre-deceased by his sons Timothy and Matthew and his step-brother, Louis.
Survivors include his children Kathleen Velasquez, Georgia, Carol Hansen and Christine Smith, both of Broadalbin, New York, Joseph Smith, Galway, New York, Tad Smith, Broadalbin, New York, John Smith, Amsterdam, New York, William and Douglas Smith, both of Broadalbin, New York, 48 grandchildren and great grandchildren; cousins also survive.
Calling hours and services are private at the convenience of the family.Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
